Kelly Chapman's Cancer Journey
Kelly and I have been given news that we could have never have anticipated. After finding a small lump we went to the doctor for further investigation. After having an ultrasound and biopsy carried out, the results came back positive for Breast Cancer. Today (11/07/2017) we spoke with the breast surgeon to discuss where we go from here. Firstly, Kelly will have another ultrasound followed by a Mammogram to determine the exact size of the cancer. Secondly, Kelly will have a CT Scan followed by a Bone Scan to determine if the cancer has spread. On Monday (17/07/2017) Kelly will be going in for surgery to have the lump removed. Once recovered from the initial surgery, Kelly will begin 5 months of Chemotherapy. During the Chemotherapy Kelly will have a genetic test carried out. Depending on the results of the genetic test and other factors, Kelly will need to undergo either radiation or two further surgeries - a mastectomy followed by breast reconstruction surgery. Any help that can be given to alleviate the financial stress as we go through this process is greatly appreciated and will give us one less thing to worry about.
