I am so excited! I've just qualified for the Reebok Crossfit Games 2016 as a master athlete in the 44-49 year category, to be held in California July 19-21.
I would be so honored and privileged to receive any financial help to represent my peers and country in my chosen, much loved sport.
Background: Each year athletes of all age and ability are encouraged to compete in the Crossfit open, which is 5 workouts over 5 weeks, with athletes having a set time under certain conditions to complete them in.
Last year more than 324 000 athletes competed. The top 200 athletes from my age category in the world completed a further 4 workouts over 4 days to gain an opportunity to represent their box and country.
Through sheer hard work, sacrifice plus mental and physical determination... I finished in 11th place worldwide out of 200 qualifiers.
My goal was to qualify in 2017, but I got to work and reached my dream of representing my country a year early.
Although I've been Crossfitting for 6 years I only decided to get serious while watching the Games online in July 2015. So I sought a great coach and was driven by fellow top Australian athletes such as Tia Toomey.
Crossfit is my therapy! I love seeing what my mind and body are capable of. I love the community, how supportive we are of each other and that age is no barrier to achieve success. Most of all I am super proud to be the best role model I can be to my 3 gorgeous children. I love that they share in my love of fitness and to hear them cheer from the sideline. They are my why. I am proud and often emotional to share in other's mental and physical triumphs.
I would like to thank everyone for their support and be assured I will be out there training most mornings at 4am, plus afternoons and hours throughout the weekend.
I will be working as hard as I can to represent you all in what I am most passionate about.
