Have you ever found yourself at the trailhead ready to go for an epic mountain bike ride and realized that your tires are low on air? Or maybe your brakes were in dire need of adjustment? If only there was some sort of bike stand with tools and an air pump you could use...
Hi. My name is Kellen Bodine and I am a Life Scout in Troop 855 in Grass Valley, CA. I am working on my Eagle Scout project in which I will be improving the Pioneer Trail trailhead with the installation of a bike repair station, a bike rack, a signpost with directional arrows to the trails, and a map case with a bulletin board. This project will benefit YOU, the mountain biking community of Nevada County, and allow you to make basic repairs to your bike, such as fixing a flat or adjusting your brakes.
In order for this project to happen I need you, the community, to help. I plan to complete the project in August or early September at the latest, but the sooner the money is raised, the sooner I can complete it and everyone can enjoy this great addition to our local trailhead.
The money will go to B.O.N.C. (Bicylists Of Nevada County) and I will receive only what the project requires. This way any extra money is already donated to a good cause. B.O.N.C. has also graciously agreed to provide any upkeep or maintenance to the repair station that may be required in the years to come.
As an avid mountain biker myself, I would like to give back as much as I can to my community. I believe that this project is a wonderful way to tie my love of biking in with Boy Scouts, while giving back to the community.
