The world has truly lost an incredible force of nature that deeply impacted the lives of so many. On Thursday, November 17th, Keith Burnam passed away after a long battle with cancer.
In his first year as a principal at West Side Park Middle School, North Star Academy, Keith wrote to his teachers, "I deeply believe in each of your ability to transform the world we live into a better place. I believe in your ability to create a brighter future for our world."
His legacy lives on in each of us, as we continue this fight for education equality, to stay hungry, to constantly stay grounded. Each moment is a brick in the framework that builds a brighter future for our scholars, and for Keith's two young sons KJ (4) and Zeke (1).
We invite his extended team & family together on Friday, December 2nd from 6-8PM at Martin's Home for Service in Montclair, NJ to pay final respects before a service held at St. Paul's Church in Montclair on Saturday, December 3 at 11AM. Repast will be held at North Star Academy College Preparatory High School in Newark, NJ following the service.
Climbing the mountain to college was not just a phrase for Keith but a dream that he had realized for his each and every scholar, as well as for his two sons.
