Keilor Park Electric Scorboard Drive

The Keilor Park Sports club is a not for profit community and family focused club located along Stadium Drive in the sporting precinct of the Keilor Park Recreation Reserve.
It supports and promotes the Keilor Park Football, Cricket, Golf and Dart clubs. Several of The current ground facilities require urgent attention with the major one being the clubs scoreboard, which is the original one installed by local families in 1975.
The Sports Club has successfully received a government grant along with internal fundraising but now requires help in raising the balance for the purchase and installation of the new scoreboard.
The current scoreboard is currently unsafe and dangerous with -
- Steps although constantly repaired, continue to break
- Frame is rusted
- Door doesn’t lock and we had numbers stolen in 2017
- Internal light and siren don’t work
- Adults and children have had cuts and bruising when updating scores
- Numbers are large and sharp metal sheets
- Some would jokingly call it heritage listed, but it’s just unsafe.
An electronic scoreboard is basically a large video screen and aside from being able to display the scores and other important match information, it also is able to display videos, replays, live television, logos and sponsorship displays.
The new scoreboard/screen will be installed overlooking the main oval which will enable community events such as
- Movie nights for local children which come from a variety of disadvantaged, low income, diverse and indigenous communities.
- Provide a safe venue for community members to come and watch sporting games such as the AFL Grand Final, Australian Open Tennis.
- Enable existing Keilor Park sporting clubs to utilise the screen in a safe environment for scoring and advertising.
