Rally for the Border

Donation protected
Thank you to everyone who participated in the “rally for the border”. The event was a tremendous success resulting in hundreds – if not thousands- of news stories, around the world.

Many of these new stories are posted on our Facebook page, as well as follow up videos detailing the success of this initiative.

While the resistance is only heating up, the logistical element of this initiative is winding down. To that end, we wanted to update our story to give more background as to who we are:

Who you are
My name is Jonathan Verk and I have spent a career in social ventures, and running nonprofit organizations. I run a nonprofit/501c3 organization with my 13-year-old daughter called ‘Stella’s Socks’, and we deliver 100,000 socks to homeless and homeless youth across Los Angeles, every year.
The ‘Rally to the Border’ initiative was conceived and executed in five days. To that end, we are running our expenses through Stella’s Socks.

Where you’re from
Stella’s Socks is a Los Angeles-based organization.

Your relationship to the parties you’re raising funds for
Jonathan is a director of Stella’s Socks, a 501c3.

How the funds will be used (be specific as possible)
The money being raised is specifically being spent to cover the costs of executing the “rally for the border” initiative. Among other costs, this includes:
- buses
- Sound equipment
- Logistics
- Onsite Logistics staff
- On site hygiene/Porta potty‘s
- Food and other necessities for the trip to San Diego
- Pick up and delivery of items to various organizations across California, Arizona and Texas (on going)

If you intend to withdraw the money, how you plan to send the funds to the parties you’re raising money for or use the money on their behalf
Most expenses were incurred personally- and by others- during the planning- and immediately following the event. Many of the funds donated through GoFundMe are being used to reimburse these expenses.
There are also ongoing expenses connected to the delivery of items throughout California, Arizona and Texas.

---
Make a difference for immigrant children separated from their parents. When children are detained, their toys are confiscated, leaving them not just without their families, but without any toys. Toys can comfort and entertain children who are experiencing separation.
