'Keep Debbie Alive'

Keep Debbie Alive
This page is to raise money to keep my good friend Debbie Uduakabasi Nwaozo alive for a bit longer. Debbie has Sickle Cell Disease which has affected her kidneys. She now has End Stage Kidney Failure and  requires dialysis 3 times a week and regular blood transfusions. Without this essential treatment Debbie will not survive much longer.

Debbie's Story
Debbie is an extremely passionate and energetic young lady who loves life and is very keen to live life to the full. She comes from a family of 5 children. 3 children in total suffered Sickle Cell Disease. Unfortunately her other two siblings have passed away with the disease.
Debbie lives in Ghana and turns 36 years this month and had a promising career in the development industry prior to being diagnosed with End Stage Kidney Failure and requiring regular dialysis.

Debbie doesn't know how long she will be around for but has devoted the rest of her life to working on her charity Sickle Cell Support Group (www.scsgghana.org) to raise awareness amongst young people of the disease and encourage them to make sure they know their genotype before they get married and start a family.

Since Debbie is no longer in full time employment, she is struggling to keep up with her dialysis, blood transfusion and medication bills which are essentially keeping her alive.

How You Can Help
To keep Debbie alive to continue the good work, I am aiming to raise 15,000 pounds which will pay for Debbie's treatment for 1 year as follows:

1. Dialysis 3 times a week (GHS250 per session/GBP600 pm) - GBP7200 for the year (Treatment and Transport)

2. Blood transfusions (GHS1000/GBP163 pm) - GBP1956 for the year)
(Debbie currently requires 4 pints of blood every month)

3. Medication (GBP125 pm) - GBP1500
(Methyldopa, Metoprolol, Calcium, Folic Acid, Hydroxurea)

4. Debbie's bucketlist - all extra funds will be dedicated towards a number of activities Debbie would like to particpate in over the next 12 months.

We need to raise the money by 15th December to enable Debbie pay her medical debt and pay for future treatment. The dialysis company will no longer provide treatment if she does not pay her debt.

Without your support, Debbie will not survive and fulfil her dream of spreading the word about the deadly but preventable Sickle Cell Disease.

Please donate whatever you can, share on your Facebook page or whatsapp groups and say a prayer for Debbie.

If you would like to donate in Ghana directly via Mobile Money, you may do so on Vodafone Cash +233 20 [phone redacted] using the reference 'Keep Debbie Alive'. You can also do this via Expresspay.

Debbie would also like to encourage you to check your genotype if you don't already know it - prevent Sickle Cell Disease.

Thank you and God Bless You!
