Help Send Student Payload to Space

Donation protected
Student produced education video from our team's most recent trip to the edge of space-
My name is Anna Veal, W0ANT,  I am the president of my school’s amateur radio club, AB0BX, at STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) School and Academy in Highlands Ranch, Colorado- (www.stemhigh.org) and AB0BX at www.qrz.com

As a sophomore, I am raising money for our club's next Spartan Space Sciences flight, placing student built payloads to the edge of space-  We'll have flight fees of $350.00 with Denver based Edge of Space Sciences, (EOSS) , payload component expenses,  and expenses for food and fuel for our chase teams.

I am a very serious student and hope you will intrust in my responsibility as the 2015 Amateur Radio News-line Young Ham of the Year- and the 2014 American Radio Relay League’s Hiram Percy Maxim award winner for community service.  http://cqnewsroom.blogspot.com/2015/08/w0ant-sweeps-youth-awards.html

Our entire flight is supported by amateur radio operators in the field, and 2M/70 cm EOSS APRS location equipment and beacons flying with the balloon.

Our middle/high school payload will measure the conductivity, using LED's,  of various elements at altitudes as high as 100,000 feet into the stratosphere.  The other payload will be a lower school egg container engineered to protect an egg from the flight environment and return it safely back to Earth.

This will be our program’s 5th high altitude balloon launch in the past 20 months, and learning from each one, we are very confident for this funding request to cover our expenses. Extra money will be used on extra flights- Monies are needed soon so as we may begin building our payload designs for our scheduled launch date of February 13, 2016, with the Edge of Space Sciences organization here in Denver. (www.eoss.org).

This program is very important to our team. We are a charter school, and funds are not always readily available to meet deadlines involving opportunity. The flights are magical.  Our past payloads have included engineering key chain cameras, battery survival tests measuring voltage at altitude, sound propagation studies, GoPro filming at altitude, and flight computers using GPS, methane and carbon monoxide sensors.  We have club members from elementary school to college, and everyone on the payload teams has a chance to make something with their hands that flies to edge of space.  We bring the inside out of many gifted kids who don’t always have a chance to exceed their potential- And having families of students join on us flight days makes for lifetime memories- We are a close family-

Your generosity to support our club will be felt by our entire STEM school community.  For several years, since I was only 8 years old,  I have had a mission to speak at local, regional, and national amateur radio events hoping to inspire others to join amateur radio. Funding for our next flight, will add fuel to a possible future presentation at the next Rocky Mountain Radio Relay League's Division conference. - High altitude ballooning brings everyone in a family together for a rewarding amateur radio experience!

With your help today, we hope to fly soon into the tomorrows-  73 Anna Veal  W0ANT for AB0BX
