The Burton Area Junior Chamber , a local organizing member of JCI - Junior Chamber International , is an organization of 21-40 year olds committed to creating positive change in the community in which we live.
Access to clean, safe water for drinking and cooking should never be a luxury, but a basic human right. The United Nations' Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) has identified access to clean water as a hurdle to sustainable development in both developed and developing countries.
Following a disasterous change in the water supply in the City of Flint, residents of the city can no longer use their tap water due to lead and other heavy metal contamination -- a decision that was made in effort to save money.
With children and other residents now testing with elevated lead levels in their blood, this is just the beginning of long term health crisis in this community.
The Burton Area Junior Chamber (JCI Burton Area) is asking for donations to assist residents of our neighboring of Flint.
The proceeds from this campaign will be used for purchase and distribution of water filters and refill cartridges for residents of the City of Flint through partner agencies and organizations.
