Kayunga, Uganda Fellowship Trip

This will be a once in a lifetime opportunity for me as an educator. The opportunity presented itself and I applied, completed interviews and were accepted. It is extremely difficult to take a trip out of the country that is strictly for professional development purposes. The company provides an outstanding programs to aspiring teachers. They approach the challenge of poor-quality education and growing shortage of teachers by connecting qualified teachers to develop their own teaching practice to inspire and empower communities of teachers around the world. By going through a very rigorous interview process, they have selected me as a finalists to participate in this program. Their teacher training model leads teachers through cycles of workshops, observations and coaching to enable them to become self-reflectors and continuously improve their own teaching and encourage colleagues to do the same. It would give me the opportunity to build coaching skills to bring back to the School of Biotechnology, Health and Public Administration. This company has locations all over the world, but I have selected Uganda for my training. This opportunity would be phenomenal for the students in this country. I would be able to help their teachers enhance the classrooms so that learning will take place at a more rigorous pace.
