WHO ARE WE?
Kayin Revolution is a new Cultural Health and Wellbeing organisation whose purpose is to breed a healthy lifestyle by integrating Indigenous Culture with modern day Traditions. We are very excited to announce that Kayin Revolution will be running our first Kayin Project in the Indigenous Community of Mabuiag Island, Torres Strait in April 2017.
WHY?
Australian Indigenous communities face many struggles, and are far more vulnerable to chronic disease, suicide, domestic violence and drug and alcohol abuse. Our Indigenous families who reside in remote communities have far less resources available to them, making health promotion and health care extremely hard for them to access. Along with this, many Indigenous Australians feel a disconnection to their traditional cultural practices and spirituality due to modern day society.
While there are many people working hard to overcome these issues, the health and wellbeing of our Australian Indigenous People continues to decline.
This is something that we here at Kayin Revolution experience in our own lives on a daily basis and touches a very personal chord with us. Which is why we are calling for change. And we need your help to get things off the ground!
WHAT ARE WE RAISING MONEY FOR?
The KAYIN PROJECT is a new initiative which is a cultural health and wellbeing program that aims to teach Physical and Mental health through Spiritual and Cultural practices. It's a program that's designed to provide our Indigenous youth opportunity to reconnect with their culture, teach and practice health and nutrition within Indigenous communities so that they can make positive lifestyle choices, gain a sense of spirituality and, improve mental health.
PLEASE HELP US! At this point in time most of the Kayin Project will be run out of our pockets, but that isn’t going to be enough! So we are reaching out to anyone who may be able to spare a few dollars to help us out. The money we are able to fundraise will go towards providing a healthy and nutritious breakfast and lunch for the 60 children we will have participating in the first project, as well as allowing us to purchase some of the equipment for the activities we will be running and cover some travel costs.
