Kay Allen move to Colorado
Kay Allen is a friend that is homeless in Sacramento California. She has gone through a variety of homeless resources and not received any help. She no longer has any support from local family or church. She has decided to move to a less expensive housing area in Colorado. She is a widow in her 70’s living on a fixed income. She and her five cats have been living out of her truck for about four months. She needs money raised to repair the windows in the truck as they keep sliding down letting in the cold and wet. She also needs money for the actual move to Colorado via a rental truck or a moving service. Most things are already packed up and in storage area. There are some large and bulky items used in making jewelry. There are a large number of boxes with genealogy records that need to be moved also. Her son, already in Colorado, is unable to work, but is willing help her move as much as he is able. She is hoping to move as soon as possible after the weather warms up so the cats will be ok on the trip and driving easier without snow or rain. March or April was the original most likely time frame. However the storage area is trying to illegally evict her, so the move may need to happen much sooner. Estimate for the move is $4,000. I don’t have any estimate for fixing the truck windows.
I live too far away to help with her physical needs. I have tried to help with some emotional support. Kay has limited internet access, so I am setting up the campaign and setting a goal of $7,000 to hopefully cover for both projects. The money will be sent directly to her bank account. Kay was active in the San Jose science fiction convention community when they lived here. Some may remember her. She has worked in the Family History Centers wherever she has lived. Please donate whatever amount you are willing to and share this announcement to boost the signal.
