Our dear friend Mihkel has been struggling with heart failure for the last several years. Most recently he spent nearly a month in the ICU in St. Paul's Hospital and underwent surgery to implant a Left Ventricular Assist Device (LVAD). The LVAD will keep his heart pumping until he is able to receive a heart transplant. In the meantime, and for the foreseeable future, he is required to stay in Vancouver to be near the hospital.
Mikhel is married and has three lovely children. His wife Paula has worked hard to juggle parenting, working, and travelling back and forth between their home in Sooke and Vancouver. In the end she has needed to take a leave from work. They both feel they have had lots of love and support from friends and family and are deeply grateful, but the financial impact has been significant and they have now consented to have this fundraiser set up on their behalf.
They are paying for costs in Vancouver, traveling back and forth on the ferry, their mortgage here, and all of the expenses that come with that. Please help in whatever way you can. There is an account set up at the Bottle Depot: 'We Heart Mihkel and Paula" and there are two fundraising shows at the end of June:
