Andrew suffered a medical event on Sunday, November 10, 2019. His heart stopped and CPR was successful, however, he was placed in a medically-induced coma, cooled for 24 hours, then rewarmed for 12 hours. On Monday, November 11, 2019, Andrew was moved to the ICU at Mercy Hospital in Coon Rapids, MN. On Friday, November 15, 2019 Andrew entered into the arms of his Savior.
As Katy wrote in a Caring Bridge post shortly before Andrew left this earthly home for his heavenly home:
"Andrew liked to think that Heaven is more like a rock concert......he once described it to me as the biggest, loudest, most amazing rock concert you could ever imagine, interrupted only by waves and choruses of cheers when another person makes the decision to follow Jesus in faith. Party on, my love. Enjoy the concert. I'm still singing down here, and I'll keep singing. "

So many of you have reached out wondering how you can help to support Katy, Micah and Ayla moving forward and the most immediate long term need is help with out of pocket medical costs, which will be significant. While this won't cover nearly all of the associated medical costs, it will help to ease some of the burden, which is weighing heavily on Katy.
Thank you everyone who has supported and prayed for Katy, Micah and Ayla and Andrew's father, Jim, through these last 6 days. The promise and hope of heaven is what the family clings to, knowing that we will all be reunited with Andrew again some day.
