Hi, I'm Katrina Gillum, a 23 year old golfer from Shropshire. Starting in 2019, I will be pursuing my dream of playing golf professionally.
I started playing golf at the age of 10 and have been playing competitively since 2009. The highlights of my amateur career include becoming Shropshire Ladies County Champion on 4 occasions, setting 3 new course records (at Lilleshall Hall GC, Shrewsbury GC and Henlle Park GC), as well as winning the prestigious Astor Salver held at The Berkshire Golf Club in my final amateur season in 2018.
My first step as a professional will be playing on the Ladies European Tour Access Series (LETAS) for the 2019 season, which serves as a pathway to the mainstream Ladies European Tour. However, the costs involved of fulfilling my dream are not cheap, with the average cost per tournament ranging from £1,500 to £2,000 (including competition entry fees, travel expenses & accommodation). Across a full season of approx. 20 events that could total a staggering £40,000. Starting out, I do not have any current sponsorship deals and am funding myself on a private basis by fitting a part-time job around my practice and tournaments.
