On 11/18/16 Katlin Pedro was struck by a SUV as she was crossing the road in Charlestown IN. Katlin is a senior at Charlestown Senior High School and has been accepted to University of Indiana on a scholarship. Katlin is a very loving, giving, and hardworking 17 yr. old. She is full of life with a heart as big as the universe. She is going to need lots of prayers and strength for the long road of recovery ahead of her. The SUV that hit her was traveling at 50 mph when it struck her and dragged her 20 ft before they could come to a complete stop, god has a plan for her and was by her side last night because it is a miracle. The accident punctured her lungs, shattered her pelvis, shattered her femur, and has caused internal bleeding. She has undergone her 1st surgery to stop bleeding and repair her pelvis. She will be in ICU for some time and is in critical condition. Her family needs all the support and prayers at this time. Donations are greatly appreciated to help the cost of the ‘ROAD TO RECOVERY’ for Katlin. Thank You

PS Please donate blood!!!! Your blood might have the pint that helped save Katlin’s life. God bless.

Update on Katlin Pedro, she will have to wear an external pelvic actuator for a few months. There is the possibility of her chest tube and neck brace coming off/out today, pending the results of her labs,
The lung that is punctured is still very diminished. Katlin will be using a breathing apparatus to exercise her lungs. First try this morning with this device was very difficult and painful for Katlin. B I G SHOUT OUT to all of our prayer warriors and friends. Thank you for all the love and support that you have all shown to us and Katlin. We are still healing but will begin the road to recovery soon. Prayers still needed for everything Katlin has left to endure.

This young lady has been through so much already and is going into surgery again, today. Each day is a struggle to do many things that most of us take for granted. Everyday she suffers from pain and gets little relief. To see your child, laying in bed, crying from excruciating pain is the hardest thing a parent must endure, but it's our job, our life, our love that keeps us there. With mounting medical bills, home care appliances, rehab/physical therapy and lost income, our focus remains on Katlin. We are committed to supporting her on this journey and any support would allow us to not worry about anything but Katlin. Open your hearts, put yourself in our place. Can you imagine the stress, heartache and worry that you would experience? Your greatest nightmare realized! Help us help Katlin. She deserves the best chance to heal and carryon with her life. By helping Katlin you will be helping thousands.....she has enrolled in the nursing program and plans to be a trauma nurse. Our Katlin could be helping your loved ones one day.

Katlin status update** She is pretty tired and worn out from working with PT. She has been asleep most of the day. With assistance, she was able to sit on the edge of the bed, her legs hanging over the side and her knee that she had surgery on was bent. The Dr from Frazier Rehab came to exam her and see if their services would help her. She is a perfect fit for their services. She has until Monday to get weaned off of Dilaudid, because Monday we move to Frazier. She has 4 days remaining here at the hospital. She has made an impressive recovery since the accident on Friday. While she is still in pretty rough shape, she is able to more today than what was expected. She is quite the trooper, with a heart made of gold and a body made partly of titanium ( now atleast). I think Sia's song Titanium should be Katlin's theme song :) So proud of Katlin

Katlin is making progress but still has a long road ahead of her. She has been learning how to use a walker to move around in small distances using one leg. She has been through 6 surgeries since the accident and is expected to have several more leading to a skin graft and possible plastic surgery. Her lungs have healed and she breathes freely on her own. Each day we progress a little further and each day brings us closer to going home. We still have several things to complete before Katlin gets home; wheelchair ramp, rails in the shower, manual shower head and whatever else we learn is needed. We are asking for any support you can offer and thank you for the support that has been given.
