My niece Katie is currently at Toronto General waiting for a double lung transplant. She unfortunately was born with Cystic Fibrosis and her health has taken a turn for the worse. She is just 20 years old and wants to be able to be strong and hold on for the biggest fight of her life. She will be remaining at Toronto General till they come up with a plan of action. Which means right know her mother is sleeping in the chair that is provided for her in the room. My sister is a single mom who will need help with funds for her and Katie's accommodations during and after the transplant. We have no idea how long this process will take, as you know, transplants are very unpredictable with the timing of things. The money donated will be used to help find a place for my sister and Katie to reside in during this whole process. As well as money for transportation to and from hospital. No donation can be too small. Anything is greatly appreciated.+ Read More
Just wanted to update everyone on Katies progress. We are happy to announce she is back home and living life to the fullest. She has a bucket list of things she wants to check off. She bought a bike and is touring around Niagara falls like a bandit. She has also gotten a job and is working full time. She has so much energy now she doesn't know what to do with it. It really is amazing how quickly her progress has come. Even the doctors are amazed. Thank God for modern medicine and the knowledge that these doctors have. Things will only get better for her. Thank you for all your support and kind words.
Well Katie is recovering so quickly from her transplant she is already out of ICU and out of the step down ward and in her own room. Her tubes are all out of her and she is running circles around the ward. It really amazing how smoothly and quickly her recovery is going. She will probably be out of hospital within 1-2 weeks I imagine. She will have to stay in Toronto still for another 3 months to continue with her therapy afterwards. And who knows, if she impresses them with her physio she could be home sooner. Thank you everyone for all your positive vibes and prayers. She is out of the worst and nothing can stop her now for her bright future ahead. The World better watch out, she will be charging full steam ahead to make up for the years she lost.
Well I went and saw Katie yesterday at hospital. She is doing fantastic. They will be getting her up today to walk around. It is amazing how well she is doing.
