Katie to South Africa

Donation protected
Katie is graduating from Humboldt State University this May. She has studied Geography and History for her Bachelor's of Arts degree. Katie worked as a campus tour guide for the past three years and a mentor for incoming freshman to the university. As a mentor for incoming freshman, she prepared over summer looking at schedules and making calls to new students. All the planning, phone calls and preparation for the week-long program to help freshman adapt at HSU left Katie without the time to study internationally before now.

Katie wants to study four weeks in Cape Town, South Africa learning about the contemporary life of South Africa, its history and culture.

Explore the history of Robben Island and District Six Museum.

Volunteer at The Southern Africa Foundation for the Conservation of Coastal Birds to help rehabilitate endangered penguins indigenous to the region.

Katie will also examine the rich wildlife of the area and the challenges of preserving biodiversity in an increasingly urbanized and global economy.

The following costs are expected:
$1800. for the summer travel program, includes housing and food for the 4 weeks
$1800. for the summer tuition of 6 credits (HSU)
$1200. for the flight to Cape Town, South Africa, round trip.

Thanks for the help!
