Kathy's Crohn's Fund

$2,570 of $5,000 goal

Raised by 29 people in 32 months
Kathy Streifert is my sister-in-law, and has had Crohn's disease for 22 years. She has been a full time waitress at the Olde Bryan Inn, Saratoga, NY for many years.

Unfortunately, as a waitress, there are no sick days, no vacation days, and Kathy will be out of work for an unknown period of time. She and her husband (my brother Scott) and daughter (Jordan) have 3 dogs and now some astronimical medical bills that will be forthcoming.

Funds will be used to help pay some immediate bills, as well as future medical bills.

We are beginning to look into Kathy going on permanent disability, but as you know that can take a long time.

Any amount you can give will be greatly appreciated by the family.

Thank you so very much,
from the Streiferts

Hi Friends,
Kathy is still waiting for a verdict from SSDI, (she has been out of work for 5 months now), she has had several follow-up appointments with them, and has an upcoming appointment. She is supposed to be starting a new medication in addition to her 6NP to fight the Crohn's disease and her surgeon says she may need surgery in the near future.
Sorry we didn't update you in the fall, after our dear mother died in November it was an emotional time for our family, then the holidays hit and we just ignored this page.
Kathy is so very appreciative of all your kind words, thoughts, prayers and for your generosity. The medical bills from her September hospital stay are astronomical and of course more are forthcoming.
Thank you all so much!

Hi everyone!
Kathy wanted me to share with you how very thankful she is for all of your generosity! When she was in the hospital last month, there was a steroid that the doctors wanted her to take, but her insurance wouldn't cover it, and it was listed at $800 a month. The hospital bills have been processed, so now that she's met her $6,000 deductible, insurance is now covering her medication in full. She started it this week, and is still adjusting to how this is making her feel. We continue to feel that Kathy's Crohn's flair up is a blessing, as she is able to go over and help Ken and Charlotte everyday, dealing with terminal cancer.
It has been surreal and a whirlwind, and yet at the end of the day, we thank God for the blessings He has bestowed upon our family.
We are still shy of our original goal, so we are keeping this fundraiser going, thank you so much for anything you can give.

Thank you so much generous friends and family, Kathy has received some donations outside of this fundraiser, and we are all so very grateful. The Silverlining in Kathy's illness is that she is able to help our dad Ken with caring for our mom Charlotte, as she is declining from her battle with cancer. Thank you all so very much, we are hoping to keep this fundraiser going a while longer as Kathy hasn't even received her bill from the hospital yet, and her deductible is $6000.
Continued prayers are very much appreciated for both Kathy and our family.
Thank you.

I'm sorry for the delay in posting an update about Kathy. I was unsure how much she wanted me to share about how she's feeling. Unfortunately at her recent doctor's appointment/follow-up, the decision was made to take her out of work. Kathy has been anxious about this step, it is a huge change both emotionally and financially. Kathy and our family are so grateful for all of you who are praying for her healing, it is going to be a very long road indeed. We are also deeply moved by all of your generosity. This page has been a true godsend, and we thank you all. Kathy will be applying for disability and the funds raised here will hopefully fill in the gaps for lost income, she hasn't worked since 9/10/16.
Also, for those of you who are prayer warriors, we also want you to continue to pray for our sweet mother, Charlotte. This vicious cancer is draining her right before our eyes. Hospice has been absolutely wonderful, but this has been so very hard on all of us.
thank you all. <3
