Lung Cancer Research Fund

On Thursday, September 20 2018, we lost my beloved mother after an eight-month long battle with lung cancer. She combated the disease privately and fought valiantly to the end like the true warrior that she was. She died peacefully in her sleep at the Connecticut Hospice in Branford, CT.

My mother embodied the term "selflessness" in anything that she did, as she always put others before herself. Her beautiful smile and personality were infectiously genuine; two of the many reasons why everyone who met her loved her.

In true motherly fashion, Mom was always proud of me, no matter the size of the accomplishment. On multiple occasions, Mom shared that her proudest accomplishment was that she made me. That's the kind of mother that she was. Her dedication to and love for my father, grandfather, and me was unparalleled. Mom's strength was remarkable, and she told it straight; if you were acting up, she let you have it, and put you in your place in true K.L. fashion. A few days prior to her passing, I was telling her how much I loved her and how proud I was to be her son. She looked me right in the eyes and said, "It's going to be okay. You're going to be a good man in life."

Thank you for being the most wonderful mother, wife, daughter, sister and friend anyone could have asked for. Thank you for being the rock in our lives and for all you did and continue to do for our family. Thank you for all your thoughtful acts of kindness and love. You were truly one of a kind, and you will be missed by so many. I promise to continue making you proud as you continue to watch over us. I will forever love you and miss you Mom. Memory everlasting.

Finally, thank you to my friends and family for all the support you have shown us throughout this difficult time. We are forever grateful for your love and kindness.

This 40-day gofundme campaign was created to raise funds for lung cancer research at the medical facility in which she was treated (Yale Smilow Cancer Center). Funding will go directly to the Lung Cancer Research Fund, and your generous donation will be in memory of her and the reverent battle she fought.
