Kathryn Johanessen - Multiple Myeloma

Our dear friend and fellow dancer Kathryn Johanessen is receiving a donor stem cell transplant at Sloan Kettering in NYC.  Her sister Valerie and I have created this page to help Kathryn with the medical bills and housing that she will incur while she has her treatment in NYC. 

I met Kathryn at my 1st dance performance team and I have been amazed and blessed to have her in my life.  She is a very brave person, strong, kind, will help anyone that needs help.  A truly genuine person that amazes me every day.  In spite of everything that she is going through she has a smile on her face, always optimistic, and a better disposition than anyone I know, truly amazing and rare.

Kathryn was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2013 and multiple myeloma (cancer of the blood plasma) in 2014.  She lost her job in May of this year. Although she has insurance coverage through COBRA, her insurance is refusing to pay for what is considered a standard treatment for young, relapsed multiple myeloma patients. Luckily, Sloan agreed to let the donor stem cell proceed while the financing is worked out.  As you can imagine, the bills will start to pile up. 

Our goal with this GoFundMe campaign is to help pay for her medical bills and housing while she is recovering from her treatment.  This will be a difficult time for her and with your help we can have her relax and recover without having the worry of these bills that will be piling up.
