Katelyn is a 31 year old woman living in Texas who has a terminal lung disease called Cystic Fibrosis. Cystic Fibrosis is a disease that mainly affects her lungs and digestive system causing debilitating infections and irreversible scar tissue in her body’s most vital organs. Up until the last 4-5 years, Katelyn has been very healthy, but she has recently suffered many setbacks in regard to her health. In early December 2016, she experienced a sharp trend downward with her lung function, with it dropping to the lowest it has ever been.
Although Katelyn has lived with this disease her entire life, she has defied the odds for years. She managed to graduate Summa Cum Laude with her M.Sc. in Statistical Psychology, moved up the chain of command at a hospital starting out as a part-time receptionist and eventually becoming the statistical analyst for a large department. She didn’t want to quit her job because she worked and sacrificed so much to reach her professional goals.
However, the time has come for her to quit working. She has had to let go of her dream job in order to take care of her body and try her best to keep things from becoming worse. This huge life change has incurred a huge cost for her as she waits to be approved for disability. It is during this time that she needs our help with her medical costs. While waiting to be approved for disability, she will lose her primary insurance and will be covered by a secondary entity (COBRA), but at a very high price. The high price of paying for insurance out of pocket, along with hospital fees, exam fees, medication costs, and general life expenses is where we have come into help her!
After speaking with her, it has been determined that in order to help her maintain her level of care, we need to raise $50,000 until disability is approved. Please help us help this wonderful woman we all love and please share this information as well!
