Heart 4 Missions
I started this account last year when I was going off to take a DTS through YWAM Naples to raise money for the program I was attending and the mission work we would be doing. I finished that program this January and I have decided to continue pursuing missions full time!
God has given me a huge passion for missions and for people from every nation. He has also instilled in me a desire to lead and send out more people into the mission field! I will be continuing on as "staff" under YWAM Naples for at least the next two years. Taking on this staff position is unpaid. We depend on the Lord to provide for us by sending people to support us whether it be financially or prayerfully. Monthly costs are about $1,500 and that covers housing, food, airfare to different mission fields, and transportation while we are home. I have the "goal" on here as $18,000 thinking that would cover about a year of support for me.
On September 30, 2017 our team arrived in Athens, Greece! We are taking into the field what we have learned. We will be working with the refugees and reaching out to people with God's love. Our goal is to know Him and make Him known. Introducing all people to Jesus and being a witness and example of His great love for them and for us.
The money that I raise to support me will make it possible for me to be apart of the work God is doing. My request is that you pray about what I'm doing and what part you can play in this journey. I'm excited to have all of you partnering with me to continue building the kingdom of God. I also ask for prayers as I have committed to two years of pursuing God's calling on my life.
Thank you so much for taking the time out to read a little bit about what I'm doing and I encourage you to ask and voice any questions or concerns you may have! I can guaruntee you the financial support that you provide will only go to God's glory! My e-mail is email@example.com, feel free to contact me at any time!
I will also be sending out monthly newsletters, if you'd like to recieve those please let me know!! Thank you again for your support!
I'm now 2 weeks in to my time here in Athens. It's insane to think that this was as long as we were here last year, yet I feel that God did something so huge in my heart during that time. Something that He's continuing to do now. We've already had such awesome experiences since getting here. We've been able to meet and invest in so many different people. Praying with them, talking to them, hearing their stories and their hearts. We've been doing a lot of exploring trying to get used to the city so that when we are hosting teams we actually know where to take them. What I love most about being back this time is that I'm seeing an entirely new side of Athens than I saw last time that I was here. I'm getting to actually experience how people live here and what they spend their time doing. The more time I'm here the more I don't want to leave. There is no question that God has brought me here for a reason.
I won't lie though, it has been a trying time. A time of really having to lay down self desires for God's desires for my life. It's never easy to be transformed from what you know, and it's even harder to not be conformed to the ways of the world. But in Christ we find our strength.
God has been giving me such a heart for the people here. All of the people. Whether they're from here, from countries around the world seeking refuge, or even just tourists passing through. (By the way, I can't wait for the day where people don't think that I'm a tourist, lol.)
I do have a few prayer requests;
1. For spiritual strength.
2. For Finances to continue to come through.
3. For healthy relationships.
I just wanted to thank all of you for taking the time to read these updates and to hear about what God's been doing in my life. And I also wanted to let you know again that I couldn't do it without you. Your prayers and financial support play a huge role in my life. This is not MY mission, this is OURS. Yours, mine, and God's.
I'm always up for a good conversation, so if you have any questions at all.. Please, let me know. Let's talk! Let's build a relationship!
I hope you're all doing well.
With much love and many blessings,
It's definitely safe to say that this has been an interesting and hectic month. Everything from our preparation to leave for Greece, to Hurricane Irma literally hitting the exact city that we live in.
But nonetheless as always, God has been faithful and He has been good. Although Irma was a devastating natural disaster, it also presented us with an abundance of opportunities to serve and share the love of Jesus with so many people. This just goes to show how true it is that God makes something beautiful out of everything.
It's pretty cool how God works. We had been praying for different ways to serve while we are here and before we knew it opportunities were presenting themselves everyday. God Answers.
One awesome story I want to share with you is this. It's short and it's simple. It's also so sweet and dear to my heart:
While we were serving at Living Waters church (pics below) we were asked to hand out bottles of water to the people waiting in line for food. I was going up the row and offering water when an elderly lady kindly declined and I moved on to the next man. He was about my age, maybe a little older, and he stopped me telling me to make her take some water. So I looked back at her and offered again. She accepted and I ran to get more for the man. After I came back I asked them both how they were doing, I don't believe they were there together. They said that they were fine, that neither of them had power, or water, and that they both had some flooding, but it was minimal. Neither of them seemed to be complaining. I listened as they told me their story and afterwards I asked if I could pray for them. The lady had a very quiet voice, but the man exuberantly accepted. I asked if I could put my hand on his shoulder, and he welcomed it immediately. As I closed my eyes to pray I felt the little lady grab tightly on to my arm. I opened my eyes for a second to see that the man had wrapped his arm around her, too, and we were now forming a small triangle. As I was praying for them I felt that God was so present. When I finished I looked at the lady and she had tears in her eyes. I knew that I was able to make them feel like even for that minute in time that they weren't alone and that somebody cares.
They both thanked me kindly and continued on to get their food. In that moment the 3 of us were so unified in Christ and it was something so special to my heart. One of those moments that makes everything that we do so meaningful and so worth it.
Their names are Brodrick and Judy. Pray for them.
This whole month has been really unusual given the circumstances, and it has flown by. Now we're nearing our departure to Greece, with only a day and a half left in FL!
God has been placing so strongly on our hearts to be steady and faithful in intercession and in seeking God's will as we take off on this new adventure with him. We don't have a lot of details as to what this next season will hold, but all of our spirits are high and we are beyond excited!! Personally I am so looking forward to building relationships within in the community and really striving to create an atmosphere where God is undeniably felt.
I can't wait to see how God will move through us during our time in Greece and I'm so stoked that you're on this journey with me. Please keep the prayers coming as we will definitely need to stay covered. One thing we all feel very strongly is that the spiritual warfare is going to start the moment we step foot off the plane.
Good thing we are more than conquerors in Christ. :)
Thanks for reading. Thank you for your prayers and continued support! I hope you have a super October!
Much love and many blessings, Karsten
God has been speaking to me a LOT lately, mostly about personal stuff, which makes sense seeing as how he did tell me from the beginning that this would be a time of personal investment. I guess I didn't really totally understand what exactly that meant until the past week or two. It's a lot of growth, that goes hand in hand with pain and discomfort - because, well what kind of growth doesn't require some sort of discomfort? Although it sucks at times it is SO GOOD haha! It means that God is really working in me and that makes me really excited. He's really been preparing me for what's to come, even though there have been days I've been super reluctant towards that. He's also been speaking a lot into me about spending more time interceding over other people, SO if y'all have any prayer Requests, please send them my way. I'd love you be a little prayer soldier for you.
I'm trying to give you a brief summary of things but I'm not good at the whole being brief thing so it's hard.
Norway is great as always. We got to celebrate the 17th of May here this week which is Norway's national holiday and that was super fun and cool to experience (I already can't wait for the next one ) my classmates are just as lovely as ever and we're all bonding more and more all the time. That's the sucky thing about ywam, you meet these incredible people and then you have to say goodbye. Not focusing on that now though! My roommate is super weird which matches me nicely and I can't believe that we're only a month away from being finished. How is that possible?????? Time is flying by. I'm excited to be home for July to see friends and family, but I'm even more excited to be back out in missions this fall.
God is so so good and you are all really wonderful as well!!! Thanks for being my support from all over and for keeping me in your prayers. I need them all the time please please please message me if you want to know more about what I'm doing or just want to chat, always open and up for it.❣️
Enjoy the photos and the rest of your day ~ xo
