Karen just turned 50,something we never thought we would see. Fifteen years ago she was told she would have 6 weeks to live. She overcame an incurable disease Scleroderma and has been in remission and good health since. In late September she had an intestinal flu which sent her to ICU in Ottawa . karen is a long term resident of Peterborough, ontario. She was on life support for 7 days and gratefully her little body ( she is 120ILBS soaking wet and 5''3 ) Is starting to win the battlle. She has udergone some intense treatments to get her body working towards healing ( Dialysis/plasmapheris and more) She has had bloodwork done from the Mayo clinic and from Germany , it is very frustrating and scary . We are hoping to raise funds to help with upcoming medical care, loss of time from work and overall living costs she will incur.
I have known Karen for 25 years . I beleive in pay it forward , karma and sometimes we need to come together in support of those we love and hold dear. It is also good to to reach out to those we may not know. I know Karen has , she has been very supportive of others indivually , she has a big loving heart and as her friend she has always been incredibly supportive and always there . Also she has been generous with her time to help others , she has done fundraising for charities and individuals ( karen even endured one of those buckets of ice water for ALS ) and has overcome numerous hurdles beyond what I have shared here in her own life and always done so with tremendous determination , Grace , sense of humor and a smile on her face. Whatever you can contribute is greatly appreciate and Karen would be so grateful . Every little bit counts . We never know when we ourselves will be faced with challenges and hurdles in life, anyone of us at anytime could be in a position when we need the love and support of others . With one small gesture you could make a world of difference in someone's life just as someone may do for you or perhaps has , Karen has always been there for others .
