Karen's mom funeral expenses

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Selina Madrigal, I am publishing this in hopes that I could help a close friend’s family, who recently lost their mother after a battle with Lung Cancer on March 12th, 2 days before her 44th birthday. She was diagnosed with Stage 4 Metastatic
Lung Cancer to the Brain and eventually to the Cerebrospinal Fluid. Their father passed away when they were very young, making it one of the main reasons as to why their mom made the brave decision of immigrating from Mexico to the United States in hopes of finding “mejores esperanzas.” I am sending this message on behalf of my friend and her two other siblings, all of which are DACAmented and on leave from work and school because of this occurrence. Her oldest sibling, Reyna (25), has been a stay at home mother and cared for their mother along with her own kids. While my friend, Karen (22), had to stop attending community college after her first year when their mother was first diagnosed in June of 2016. She worked full time and took her to doctor’s appointments in LAC+USC Hospital until recently in February when her mom was put in Hospice after being told that she only had a few weeks to live. Karen had to use her paid vacation in order to keep an income coming, but after using those 2 weeks of vacations, she had to apply for a family leave program that would save her from losing her job. Hugo (19), the youngest, was encouraged to keep going to school despite her diagnosis at UC Riverside in 2016. He completed his first year, but recently withdrew due to evident complications in his mother’s situation. While in school, he tried his best to balance out both being a full-time student and worker, to try and provide the best that he could for him, his sisters, and ill mother. We are still in shock and afraid. As they feel that their support system is more limited due to the fact that they don’t have a father figure that could help in guiding them as to what they should do and what is best for them. For any other questions and concerns, please feel free to contact me (909) [phone redacted] [email redacted]

Thanks a lot in advance!
