Kara’s Fight

Kara (Datz) Thompson grew up in Mullica Hill NJ and her family still remains in this town. She and her sister-in-law, Megan, opened Fit to Dance Studio in 2011 in the hopes of fulfilling their dreams of owning a family business that would bring the opportunity for learning, growing and making great memories to the families in the community. In addition to her incredible accomplishments at the studio, Kara is blessed to enjoy her husband Tom and their two young sons, Garret and Reid.

     In March 2018 Kara was diagnosed with melanoma cancer. Instantly, Kara became terrified of what this might mean for her husband and children as well as for her parents. Kara decided she had to make a choice between waging her fight quietly and alone or reaching out to the people she had made so much a part of her life.

     Kara is so grateful for the love and support she has received. Her family and friends have tried to sustain her energy with everything from simple notes, to car pools and dinner.
Kara is courageous and full of faith and gratitude. She shares her story on Facebook and in person and she does so in the hope that her journey might lend someone else the faith and courage they need.
