The Karakoram Anomaly Project (KAP) is the culmination of several years of academic research, development support and exploration activities in the Karakoram Mountains, ranging from investigations of glacial lake outburst floods (GLOFs) and surging glaciers to food security and adoption-diffusion processes to high altitude and technical mountaineering.

This year we have a prepared a multidisciplinary expedition to the Shimshal region of Northern Pakistan as an urgent response to the recent observations concerning active surging glaciers and the consequent high risk of GLOFs. Working at the interface between natural and social sciences, international development and adventure, our main aim is to help protect vulnerable mountain communities from catastrophic glacial floods using a combination of cutting edge science, creative and policy techniques delivered by an international team with renowned Pakistani experts.
We are actively looking to partner with individuals, brands and organisations that want to help protect some of the most remote and vulnerable communities on Earth. Your contribution will help to deliver much needed scientific research and disaster risk reduction work which in turn could save thousands of lives.

Delivering the project requires a massive logistical, physical and financial effort. We need your help to make the project happen.

We need £10,000 to purchase research equipment, organise the community workshops, sustain the team and local collaborators in the field and craft a video documentary and photographic essays to share our story with the world.

The KAP offers sponsors multiple channels for product exposure, integrated advertising, customer resource management, brand identification, and engagement through participation in the project.

We have a media partnership with the National Geographic Society. If you decide to sponsor, the KAP 2018, your company and associated products and services can benefit of global exposure and marketing opportunities through our media partners.
