Kamali Muhire is 24 years old and was born in the Democratic Republic of Congo. In 1996 he and his family had to flee to Rwanda to escape persecution from rebel groups. For the past 18 years he has been living in the Gihembe refugee camp.

Kamali is currently in his 4th year at the University of Rwanda, studying Accounting. His education is being funded by These Numbers Have Faces , a Portland-based NGO that identifies promising students from poor, rural, or post-conflict communities to give them the opportunity to attend college to lead and empower their countries.

For the past few months Kamali has had the opportunity to come to Portland, Oregon to intern in the accounting departments at companies like Delap LLP, TMT Development, and the Portland Timbers soccer organization. These internships have helped Kamali gain professional workplace experience, further developing the accounting skills he will need to start his own business.

To kick start his new business when Kamali returns to Rwanda, TMT Development has purchased him a new laptop, Quickbooks software and a solar powered computer charger.  Please consider contributing to this campaign to enable Kamali to become a business owner and leader in his country.
