Kalin Family Care Fund

(GoFundMe note: We have reactivated this GoFundMe from a few years ago.  Back then, we raised about $40k for the Kalin family as they first dealt with the medical and financial challenges of this diagnosis.  Please "ignore" that original amount we raised... as we are re-activating this for this new phase of Stacey's journey.)

My name is Lisa Shepard and I hope you'll join me as we help the Kalin family concentrate on making memories! I have been friends with Stacey for almost 20 years. Not only is Stacey a devoted friend to me and many others, she’s a wife of ten years to husband Kevin, she's a daughter, a sister, an adoring aunt, and of course, an “all in” mother to three active kiddos, Elliot (9), Jacob (8), and Sophia (6). Stacey is a light in everyone’s lives. She is known for her infectious smile that rarely leaves her face, her amazing hugs, and her ability to make acquaintances feel as if they’ve known her forever. Stacey truly is the most deserving of all life’s joys and celebrations. She is the first person to show up or lend a hand when someone is in need. Now she is the one in need.

Several years ago Stacey began to experience some discomfort that over time became increasingly worse. Tests and scans confirmed that Stacey has terminal cancer. She has been battling this disease for several years now and has completed over 90 rounds of chemo, surgeries, and has learned that her cancer has continued to spread to other organs. The fight is exhausting but she does it with the grace and strength that she approaches everything in life.

 

As many of you know, Stacey is not working at this time. She is focusing on her family and resting her body, mind and spirit. So many loved ones have reached out to me and asked how to help. Well… we can’t do treatments for Stacey. We can’t be her doctors. And we can’t take away this diagnosis. But one thing we CAN do is help raise money for the Kalin family. Not only would these funds ease some of the many burdens in their lives right now, but more importantly, donations will allow Stacey to focus less on money and more on making lasting memories with her family.
