Schools start again in the Gambia in just a few weeks. In the past few months, I've stepped back a little from direct work with the Kairo International Foundation, instead sending monthly cheques for my program manager, Malick Fadera, to manage and disperse. Funds donated pay for school fees, lunches, and backpacks. Remember that school in the Gambia is not free, even the government schools charge fees and few schools provide lunch. Donations go to Malick's salary and transportation, school tuitions, lunch, and back packs for 12 children, meaning we need at least $1000 and regular donations of up to $250 for salary and expenses. Thank you in advance for your donations to a wonderful cause. These families are so grateful and a little goes a long way. Remember that tuition itself can be as low as $75/year - a lot to them, but not much for most of us. You can even designate your donation for one child who you will help sponsor, or for lunches or backpacks.
