Kailee's Medical Mission Trip

Donation protected
Hi everyone!

This summer I am blessed to say that I will be going on a medical mission trip to Guatemala. While there, I will assist doctors and physicians  as they care for patients in need. In light of the recent volcano explosions that have wreaked havoc on the people of Guatemala, our help is needed more than ever. The effects of the volcano will last long after the eruptions die down and our team will be able to help those who are still in need of care.

On July 28-August 4, I will be joining a team of surgeons, nurses, anesthetists and others who will embark on a week long journey to provide much needed care to the impoverished people of Guatemala. The patients we will care for are only able to receive medical treatment through medical mission groups like ours, as there is very little access to healthcare throughout the country.

This mission trip is arranged through an organization called Refuge international. Refuge is a 15-year-old nonprofit corporation. It was started in 2003 by a handful of people and has grown into an organization with more than 500 volunteers from around the U.S. Each volunteer pays their own way, gives a week of their time, and uses their talents to help the people of Guatemala.

As a volunteer, I will be paying for my own airfare and room and board, but there are many other expenses that come with providing medical care to the poor in Guatemala. Funds are needed to buy medical and surgical supplies and provide food and housing for patients in Guatemala.

I am asking for your thoughts and prayers as I travel, and a monetary donation to help support my trip to Guatemala. With the help of Refuge International, I will bring medical, dental and surgical supplies, equipment and services to the poor people of Guatemala.

As a pre-med student at Stephen F. Austin State University, it is very important that we make our resume as competitive as possible. Along with being an amazing experience, this trip will provide me with nearly 100 shadowing hours, and irreplaceable resources which will help me when I have to apply to medical schools.

If you can make a donation, it would be greatly appreciated!
Help be a part of changing the world, one person, one village at a time.
