Chris Corcoran's medical/funeral

Donation protected

At the beginning of August my  family’s life changed in an instant when my husband, Chris Corcoran, was rushed to the hospital by ambulance.   Placed in a medically induced coma, he spent the next two weeks in the ICU on a ventilator.  The results of more tests and procedures over the last 6 months has resulted in him being hospitalized 6 times, and several outpatient appointments at several different hospitals which he had to be transferred by ambulance, which are not covered by my insurance plan. On December 27th he was rushed back to the Lasalle Hospital where he was admitted to the ICU and since then has been transferred to the ICU at the Neurological Health Institute to determine the Neurological problems that he is dealing with.  On the 15th of January after having neurological testing done we have determined that he has several neurological conditions. As a result of this, Chris went into respiratory distress again and was placed on a ventilator on sedation. We have now determined that his lungs are full of fluid and he is drowning from the inside out. His spleen is enlarged and his kidneys are not working properly. He is also in liver failure and he will need to have a liver transplant. He has also been diagnosed with an autoimmune disease called Vasculitis. As a result they have started him on steroids and hopefully this will help the Neurological problems that he is currently having.  The plan is to stabilize him enough to transfer him to the ICU at the Glen Hospital, so they can put him on the transplant list. The doctors said that he couldn't be placed on the transplant list until they can confirm that there is no brain damage and that he can function. We are hoping that the sterioids will work, otherwise he will be ineligible for a liver transplant and he will die. I have   been by my husband’s side this entire time, day after day, and now I have to deal with taking care of him myself. I am the only one who has money coming in and we also have two children still living at home. I have used every bit of money that I have, and now as a result I can't afford to pay the household bills and expenses plus pay the outstanding bills and expenses related to his medical expenses and care.   The doctors said that even if he pulls through this process he will need years of therapy and recovery.  I don't know how I am going to manage this huge financial burden.  I do have private insurance through the pshcp, but it only covers 80 % of the eligible costs and there are a lot of things that are simply not covered. I am desperate to find a way to get the money needed for his medical expenses and care plus keep the roof over our heads and food on the table etc. I need to focus on my husband and his current medical crisis, not on how I am going to pay the bills and household expenses.  I understand that times are tight for anyone, so whatever help you can provide will be appreciated.  Please don’t hesitate to contact me through this page if you have any questions.  I am thankful for whatever you can do or give.
