K9s and Wines 2

Donation protected

My name is Deputy Aaron Shepard. I have been with the Chelan County Sheriff’s Office for almost six years. Prior to my employment with the Sheriff’s Office, I was a US Customs and Border Patrol Agent in Arizona. I have seen firsthand how invaluable a canine can be. I was also a K9 handler for three years and recently retired my patrol K9 Reno earlier this year due to medical issues. I am seeking to raise funds to purchase a new patrol K9 next year. Your support in our canine program would be greatly appreciated.

On April 13th 2019, the Chelan County K9 program will be having a fundraiser at Pybus Marketplace in the banquet room. From two to five, the public will have a chance to meet and interact with our outstanding dogs and team. There will be a raffle and silent auction at wine from local wineries. We are in need of items for both the raffle and silent auction. This fundraiser is to raise the $7500-$10,000 it costs to purchase a new police K9. Please help this worthy cause. Please visit WWW.K9SANDWINES.COM for our website for further details.

Safety is paramount in our profession. The Chelan County Sheriff's Office canine unit’s mission is to assist the patrol units and surrounding law enforcement agencies. This is accomplished by maintaining and utilizing appropriately trained police canine to enforce laws, keep order, and assist the community. Other duties these canines perform include but not limited to; locate and apprehend criminals, protect law enforcement personnel and citizens and locate illegal drugs and lost persons.

Chelan County Sheriff’s Office patrols nearly 3,000 square miles of land. Deputies serve a population of around 74,000 citizens. We currently have one German Shepherd patrol canine named Torro and one Dutch Shepherd named Asa, a Black Labrador drug seeking canine named Ruben and two search and rescue dogs named Spur and Aspen.

Each canine costs around $10,000 just to purchase it. It costs an additional $10,000 to train and equip a new canine and handler. It would be near impossible for the Sheriff’s Office to fully shoulder the financial burden of a canine. Items that are not included in the county budget have been obtained through donations in the past. Donations help provide these canines to our community in order to keep our citizens and officers safe.  Each donation received is used for canine equipment and training handlers and canines.  Donations allow the Sheriff’s Office to provide training for canine handlers that might otherwise not be possible. Funds that are donated are an investment to the community’s safety.  If you are able to donate for the raffle or silent auction. You can mail your donations to the Sheriff's Donation Fund, to:
