Help us help others!

My name is Marto, I've been living as a freelance artist for two years and recently began trying to aim my art toward helping my community, and raise funds to help those who are aleady helping others.

I live in Green Bay, WI, and our town faces a few issues :

- A huge influx of narcotics that have made it so 1 out of 5 kids in our schools is hooked on prescription pills, and many young adults are losing their friends, families, or lives to substances without proper treatment or help.

- We have almost no safe places for LGBT people and no place where someone suffering from discrimination can find support and help in regards to homophobia, transphobia, or gender queer discrimination.

- There's only one single place presently available that offers non-medical recovery and support options for free in Green Bay  - DarJune.

They're a non-profit run cafe that offers an array of support groups for the community with a holistic approach:

-Recovery Coaching with scholarships available through StopHeroinNow.
- Meetings for those who've lost someone to addiction,
- Support groups for those who have loved ones that are currently battling with addiction, and of course
- Meetings for those suffering from addiction themselves.

DarJune also works closely with Stop Heroin Now ( a strong non-profit in the area), counselors, therapists, advisors, a huge network of people that depend on the sustainability of this establishment.

Recently we started a support group for the local LGBT community in a clean, sober environment in order to expand their place in the community, and am passionate about doing all I can to help them remain here for our community.

We've found the support of local judges and law officials, we also supply community service hours for the community.

On February 20th, 2016 DarJune is hosting a fundraiser that will hopefully bring more people from our community into its doors and we need your help to make it reach its fullest potential. If you fund this you are supporting a struggling community to be able to afford helping others with:

Advertising

Pamphlets,  posters, shirts, and brochures that help us raise awareness of our presence as a safe place. It's a struggle finding funds to state that they are here.

Nourishment

-Food for the person who decides to be there to seek help. Even something as simple as a coffee or a burger could be the difference between sticking around or opting for drugs on the street.

Resources

Books, therapists, counselors, and many other things cost money that the families and people involved just don't have the money for as they're paying court fees, Probation Officers, medical bills, etc. With this donation we can expand the resources that are necessary for most of the people needing it, of which many are kids in their late teens and early 20s.

The help you give for this will be reflected in the lives of those you help keep safe. Whether it's the child suffering from a heroin addiction, the person who is there for support because they lost someone, or the young kid struggling with depression, anxiety, homophobia. They are all people we are trying to keep safe, and every dollar that you can share toward this will help keep them alive another day, and give us the opportunity to provide a stronger, more resilient approach to keep them from harm's way.

 Thank you for helping.

You might be the reason why someone can  live another day tomorrow!
