In the early hours of Friday June 30,2017, I couldn't sleep due to lupper left side abdominal pain. I thought it was anxiety and tried to get through the night. As the hours went on the pain increased and it became harder and harder to breathe. By 6am I decided it was time to see a doctor. I called my parents asking if they would take me to the emergency room and take my son. (My parents were beyond helpful) When we arrived at the emergency room the nurses took vitals, started an IV and we learned that my oxygen was 82%. The doctor ordered blood work and a chest x-ray. Blood was obtained and radiology was there waiting to take me for the x-ray. I returned to my room, and the doctor had my blood work back. He explained my D-Dimmer blood culture was extremely high. Radiology was back to take me for a CT scan. After my CT scan I was brought back again. As the nurses were hooking me back up to the vitals machine and telemetry my oxygen had dropped down to 67%. As soon as the CT results were back the emergency room doctor had come in to inform me and my dad, I had bilateral pulmonary embolisms. Possibly from birth control I had started taking a month prior. The plan was to be admitted to the hospital, start taking blood thinning medication and stabilize my oxygen. I spent a week at the hospital. July 6,2017 I was given the okay to go home. I knew my life had changed but never in a million years did I realize how much it really had changed! I went home on oxygen and a pile of new pills that soon would become the new normal. As the days turned to weeks, weeks turned to months, I was still requiring oxygen. The pain wasn't getting any better and I had no clue what to do! I have had numerous clinic visits and two emergency room visits, due to not being able to breathe.
As of today September 15, 2017, I have been out of work for two, almost three months. I am still on oxygen, blood thinners and recently found out my cholesterol was 10x the normal high. (1313) As far as the pulmonary embolisms, they are dissolving but I am requiring more oxygen. The last time I was in the emergency room, the doctor assumed I have a lung condition or lung disease. I see a pulmonologist September 18, 2017 and hopeful to get some answers.
As some of you know, I am a single mom to one son who is 9 years old. He has definitely been a great help but unfortunately doesn't understand finances.. With rent, utilities, car payment, insurance, gas, medications, doctors visits, things our health insurance hasn't covered and everyday supplies I am stressed to the max!
I have contemplated on asking for help but don't want to be a burden to anyone.. I hate asking for help but this is my only option right now!
Even if you can't donate prayers are always welcome!
