Help Ella

After suffering a traumatic event, Mia got Ella, a Golden Retriever that is more than just a dog. When therapy wasn’t helping Mia, Ella was. When Mia would have a panic attack, Ella emotionally supported Mia by laying on her chest, calming her down and working her through her panic and anxiety. The two were inseparable.  Ella never spent a night away from sleeping at Mia’s head. She could sense when anxiety was taking over Mia and would glue herself to her until the anxiety and panic passed.  Ella has done so much for Mia in the 2 years they have spent together. 

On Thursday, 11/15/18, Ella escaped from the yard after the landscapers visited.  She was hit by a car on Talcott and the driver ran off.  Plenty of amazing people stopped, in the freezing rain, and stayed with her until she was found.  She was transported to the ER and unfortunately is suffering from spinal cord damage and neurological trauma. Mia is a mess.  Absolutely devastated.  Today she is being transported to a specialty vet where a neurologist will treat her and determine the extent of the injury. 

As as a parent, my heart breaks for her.  The thought of Mia losing the dog that got her through a trauma, as well through her mother’s 6 months in a hospital program following the birth of her baby brother breaks my heart.  Ella is not only Mia’s baby, but her rock. 

The vet vet bills are unbelievable. After multiple amazing people offering to help, we decided to create this page.  The estimated cost to save and rehabilitate Ella is extreme. If you are able to help Ella, Mia and her family would greatly appreciate it.
