Rough Stock Riding & Safety School

Our western heritage is being lost to the pages of history as urbanization takes over our small towns.  Every town or city has reason to celebrate something throughout the year with special events.  Most here in Utah include a rodeo or some sort of western activities. The sport of rodeo itself is seeing a decline in number of contestants at all levels.  Jr. Rodeo, High School Rodeo(UHSRA, NLBRA), Collegiate Rodeo(NIRA), Amateur Rodeo(IMPRA, RMPRA, ICA, CRC, WSRA, etc.), and Professional Rodeo(PRCA,PBR, CBR) are all suffering due to lack of interest.   Most rodeos have a team of hard working volunteers  using community funds to try and make events worth watching.  With the lack of rodeo contestants coming to rodeos it is hard to put on a performance worth watching.  And without ticket sales it is harder to cover costs and make events successful.  When these events get cancelled we all lose out on the traditions we have grown to love.   We would like to change that.

Rough Stock Riding & Safety School is a Utah non-profit organization designed to benefit competitors in the Sport of Rodeo.  The company was formed in 2010 to help young cowboys learn basic and safe techniques required to advance in the rough stock riding events.  We provide a three day rodeo school. The first day is spent on safety. We cover proper equipment fit , fitness, chute procedure, pick-up man techniques, etc.  The next two days we buck animals.  Our instructors are all current or former PRCA Cowboys.  Our pick-up men and bullfighters are all PRCA members. Most of our stock providers are PRCA involved. Our goal is help give anyone the best opportunity to become a Rodeo Cowboy.  In the past we have charged less than half the rate of a normal 3 day school and only enough to cover our operating costs.  We have always invited all comers to the Safety Clinic our opening day at no cost.  Currently we rely on donations and sponsorship to cover our operating costs and it has worked.  In 2013 and 2014 we have made the entire school FREE.  This increased our annul participant numbers to increase from 35-40 per year to 65-75 per year.  We are excited to give so many more people the chance to learn. We are have also worked with the PRCA's Outreach Program and the Utah High School Rodeo Association, and building relationships with other numerous rodeo associations.  We are open to new opportunities and expansion.

Our founders lives have revolved around rodeo and we feel obligated to give back to the sport and build on our Western Heritage.  We figure the more contestants we have at the beginning levels of rodeo, the more will trickle up the ladder and continue with Professional Rodeo careers.
