As we all know Cory Metcalf passed away January 4th 2015. He was a loving father, friend, and son. After Rebecca passed away in 2012 he did the best he could to not only raise his three children MacKenzie, Meagan and Spencer but to be both parents. Rebecca and Cory loved their children so much and only wanted what was best for them even with all the bumps in the road they had to overcome, they still stuck together and made it work. It is a very difficult time for the children because not only did they lose their mom in 2012 they just lost their dad. So in order for them to stick together someone has to get custody of them. MacKenzie is going to try her best to take the responsibility and get custody of her siblings. In order for that to happen she will need to move out and get her own place, she will need all the help she can get. We all know she doesn't like asking for things and when she does it's not a lot. So anything helps. We thank everyone that has been their to support the family and will continue to help after. It's going to be really hard but we will get through this.

As today comes I don't even have words to where to begin. But there's one thing I do know, I'll never forget this day. Today's one of the second worst days of my life. One year ago my best friend, but also my father left this earth. If I thought I couldn't feel anymore pain in my life, I was wrong. At that moment everything changed. So as much as I miss my dad and wish I could bring him back, nothing in the world can do that. But all the memories I do I have I cherish, anything I had of his I kept, any picture I see I save. Today I can say I've made it through so many obstacles in one year that haven't been easy at all. The two most important tragedies in my life have made me the strong, caring and independent person I am today. Meagan and Spencer may give me hard time somedays but I wouldn't trade it for the world. I made my parents a promise and I know I'm doing a good job at it. So yes today is a hard day and I'll make what I can of it, for those who don't get to be down here on earth being around loved ones. So here's to 43 years would have been 44 years now of my dads life. 1/4/15 a day I'll never forget

It has been a long process of becoming the legal guardian of Meagan and Spencer. I would first of all like to thank the community and everyone else that has been a huge support system for all three of us. It was not easy but I wasn't willing to give up on what I love. I would like everyone to know anything is possible if you just work hard to get it. I wouldn't of been able to do this without my family and friends. This is not the end it's the beginning and we have a long road ahead of us.

Everyday as I wake up I always take a look around me and think, look at how far I've came. My life changed drastically, as well as the kids. One minute we went from arguing everyday with our disagreements to always saying saying I love you before we go to bed. No matter how much we get mad at each other, at the end of the day we set the differences aside. Not a day goes by that we don't think about our parents or have questions that none of us can answer. After January we didn't know what we were getting into or how hard it was going to be. We didn't realize we were going to be on our own. Yes I had doubt in myself but that never once stopped me from keeping what I had left together. Meagan and Spencer had so much faith in me and that's what pushed me to keep going, the day they came home I'll never forget, because their smiles on their faces made me so happy. It's always the first year that is going to be the toughest with holidays and birthdays. Some days will be harder than others and that's okay. As the days keep passing we seem to realize who really matters and who doesn't. As we thought we had so much love and support, we really only have each other. Yes they're a few people that are there but we are on our own and that's how it will always be.

Today was a holiday, Easter to be exact. The first holiday without our dad but most importantly without both of our parents. Luckily the Easter bunny still came this year just like every other year. It hasn't really settled in yet that we are on our own, facing the world. It hasn't been easy at all but we are doing the best we can. Taking day by day. We cherish our family more than ever and hold them close. We never know when our last day is going to be. So remember to always say I love you.
