Michael's Kidney Transplant Recovery

Donation protected
As many may already know, Michael Herchen was lucky enough to receive a kidney transplant from his Aunt Patrice last week. Michael was diagnosed with IgA Nephropathy a few years ago, an auto immune disease that attacks the nephrons in the kidney. For most, this  disease is usually benign. About one year ago, it became clear that was not the case for Michael. After many tests and doctors office visits, it was discovered that his kidney function was declining quickly. Michael spent about 9 months on dialysis and a strict medication regimen. After his dad was unable to donate, his Aunt quickly started the testing process. After a few months, she was accepted. Both Michael and his aunt are doing well after surgery, but Michael still has a long road ahead of him. Anti rejection medications and weekly doctors visits will be the norm for life.  I have created this go fund me to help Michael and his family with the costs of medical bills, travel from Rhode Island to Mass General Hospital, and the expensive anti rejection medications he will be on forever. Michael will have to be out of work for at least 3 months, and needs to focus on recovery and getting back to a normal life rather than stressing overly costly medications. Any and all donations are greatly appreciated. Thank you to all for your love and support.
