JWDC to Santa Fe

Donation protected
The Janakpur Women's Development Center(JWDC), Nepal, is one of 162 artisan groups (out of a total 642) to be invited to the 2018 Santa Fe International Folk Art Market. It is one of 5 artisan groups nominated by IFAM for a Community Development Award this year as well.

To be able to send founding member and master artist Manjula Thakur to the Santa Fe Market in July requires funds the JWDC currently lacks. Turkish Air has kindly donated a round-trip air ticket as far as Boston, but other funds are needed to get Manjula all the way to Santa Fe. The JWDC must also pay the $600 booth fee and $800 to cover shipping of art and other products. The JWDC is covering other costs (passport, visa, local transport, and production) itself.

On behalf of the Janakpur Women's Development Center, an organization I started 30 years ago, I am grateful for your donation that will help make this journey possible. As you may know, the JWDC is a remarkable organization that has brought opportunity to many women in Janakpur and its surrounding villages, and ensured that the tradition of Maithil art is preserved for generations to come.

Thank you!!!
