Justin Scott Harris went home to his Heavenly Father at the young age of 28 on November 11, 2017, after a long battle with addiction.
Justin was an amazing young man. His faith in God, a passion to leave a legacy and an unyielding effort to understand his life and others were always a source of strength. The devotion he showed for his family was incomparable to any other. He was bright, kind, charming and had an infectious smile. Though he was devoted to his faith, his family, his music and a desire to help others, the addiction prevailed. All of those who knew Justin know that he would want his life to be a message of hope, clinging to God's promise that death will be swallowed up in victory in the end!
Unfortunately, on or about, November 25, 2017, Justin's cremains, another family's loved ones cremains and possibly two to three unclaimed cremains were stolen from the Bakersfield Funeral Home prior to the families retrieving the cremains for proper burial/memorial. Justin's Celebration of Life was held at Westside Church of Christ on December 2, 2017 without his cremains returned to the family.
For more than a month, the family has been attempting to work with the Bakersfield Funeral Home and the Bakersfield Police Department with little to no success. Information is either lacking or misleading and consequently, we are no closer to retrieving Justin's cremains.
Therefore, the family is seeking funds as soon as possible to create a reward for, a) the return of Justin's cremains undisturbed (i.e. in the original container and seal intact), no questions asked to the Bakersfield Police Department , Bakersfield media outlets or Westside Church of Christ , or b) information leading directly to the recovery/return of the creamins.
If, after one year on December 31, 2018, the funds have not been rewarded, those funds will be donated to The Mission at Kern County to help the homeless and those battling addictions.
