Justin King 2017 CrossFit Games

Justin King, owner of Slingin’ Iron CrossFit in Walker, La, has recently been given the honor of    representing the great State of Louisiana at the 2017 CrossFit Games in the Masters 35-39 division. To give you an idea of how great of an accomplishment this is, Justin is 1 of 20 athletes that    qualified for this opportunity in his age group. He competed over the past several months in what’s called the CrossFit Open where over 300,000 athletes from across the world all do the same workouts  a given time period to see who is best among their peers.  In this, he ranked first in his age group in the state of Louisiana and 25th in the entire world. This ranking earned him a spot to then compete again in a Regional Qualifier where, over a series of 4 additional workouts, he finished 12th in the world earning him a spot to compete at the CrossFit Games in Madison, WI being held August 1-6th.

Justin has been able to do all this while still being passionately dedication to his community and his gym members. Since opening his gym 2 ½ years ago, he has focused on getting real results out of every member by showing them proper form, technique, and supplying them with the motivation and encouragement they need to reach their goals. He gives back to the community whenever the opportunity arises by performing lectures, motivational speaking, demonstrations, and         participating in whatever events he can.  He truly has a passion for helping people in the  community develop a healthier lifestyle and hopes that this opportunity will serve as a greater platform for him to continue this work.
