Justice for Deshawn

Donation protected
Deshawn Dye has been incarcerated for more than half of his life for an accident he caused when he was only 17 years old.  As a teenager, he was a handed the daunting sentence of 15 to life in an adult prison. After serving 18 years, Deshawn is now being held indefinitely. The legal community and corrections experts alike now view life sentencing for minors as not only ineffective but counter-productive to the supposed rehabilitative purpose of the juvenile justice system. That developing understanding is reflected in the recent Supreme Court decisions making it extremely difficult to  incarcerate a young person for the rest of his life. Deshawn has been away from his life long enough; it is time for him to come home.

A group of CUNY School of Law students have connected with FedFam4Life  advocates to work with Deshawn and help ensure his freedom. We have found a lawyer ready to fight for Deshawn, and are now working to raise the funds so he can access the legal advocacy necessary to bring him back to his family and his community.

We so appreciate whatever you can contribute to help bring Deshawn home!
