Justice and support for the Fosters
Richard Foster, an unbelievably kind and generous man, wildlife conservationist, teacher and an award-winning film-maker for the BBC and National Geographic was brutally killed yesterday, August 7th, in Belize.
His talented wife and filmmaking partner Carol Farneti Foster is an amazing and resilient woman, but she has been very ill with Multiple Sclerosis for several years now and has related complications including a much needed back surgery.
Richard's untimely death has catapulted her into a situation where she will need substantial medical and financial support to bring the killers to justice and to survive this trauma and move her own life beyond this crisis phase.
We call on all those who want to see justice served and kindness triumph during this dark time.
Please fund this cause and ensure that justice is sought and delivered for Richard while Carol receives the support she requires for her medical care. Specifically, the raised funds will be 1) used to cover legal costs to prosecute Richard's killers to the full extent of the law and 2) to cover the costs of MS treatment and complications, back surgery and associated travel, mobility nurse's help (where Richard used to help with mobility previously), counseling, and medication. We are having these funds sent directly to Carol Foster.
With gratitude for your much needed support for Carol,
The Fosters' support group in Belize including but not limited to Chrissy Tupper, Jamal Andrewin Bohn, Rachel Graham, Eden Estephan, Katie Valk, Lucy Fleming and many other Friends of the Fosters

One of the many film school classes the Fosters held to pass on their incredible film-making knowledge to the next generations of film-makers.
It has been an arduous 6 months. Richard is so often in our thoughts as we have moved into the new year and forging ahead with life. Carol has been incredibly stoic and moved forward with the many things that need to get done when a life partner is gone.
Your kind and generous support has helped to significantly improve security at their house and grounds, has enabled us to find folks who can help Carol with running the site and of course helped Carol with the medical care she requires.
In fact, she just had spinal surgery (as if she didn't have to endure enough in the past 6 months) and has come out fine. Very recently, a dear friend of hers, Robin Brockett, has moved back to Belize to live with her and help navigate her through the next while. And throughout all of this, we are patiently but eagerly waiting for more progress in the case against Richard's killers.
Thank you again for caring and for keeping Richard and Carol in your hearts and minds.
The Tribe of Foster Friends
Thank you all very much for your amazing support of this campaign. I am so honored at the responses. Richard would have been so shocked and touched by the number of people who cared for him and respected his accomplishments. I will ensure justice will be served with these funds. We are also working hard to safeguard our home and property so it can continue to be a place that carries on my and Richard’s life’s work.
I still plan to have a large memorial later this year to bring together our friends and colleagues. We had a small gathering to plant a cashew tree in our yard along with some of Richard’s ashes. He always told me when he dies he wants a tree planted over him, so I honoured his wish. I am going to continue planting trees all over the country at sites where we loved to film. I will also sprinkle the ashes over the ocean because he was a real naturalist and cared for all the environments in Belize. I know Richard would say: it's been a wonderful pleasure to know you all and thank you for helping Carol.
It has been just over a week since we all received the devastating news of Richard Foster’s death. We have all been grieving in our own ways and paying tribute to a kind, gentle and wonderfully funny man, loving husband to Carol and father to Olivia, and internationally accomplished cinematographer.
And during this week, you have all responded with a tremendous wave of generosity and goodwill to support our urgent plea for justice for Richard and care for Carol. Your collective anger and dismay galvanized the police to work very quickly; they have now apprehended three of Richard’s murderers. And your very kind support has enabled us to hire one of Belize’s best criminal lawyers, cremate Richard, initiate medical support for Carol during this unbelievably difficult time, and help to start securing Carol's future and preserving Richard's legacy.
From the bottom of our hearts, we thank you for your generosity and for helping to get us this far. Please know that we originally set the bar low for this fundraising campaign and that so much more support will be needed to complete the wheel of justice, and to help Carol physically and mentally as she learns to transition to a life without Richard.
Please continue to share this fundraising campaign and urge friends and family to donate. Every bit of support is tremendously helpful.
Thank you so very much.
The Tribe of Foster Friends
We reached our goal! Thank you to all those who have donated so far. THIS IS INCREDIBLE. You are a truly amazing community of friends, colleagues and supporters for the Fosters.
But please don’t stop donating and sharing. The target we set on this campaign was a bare minimum to get Carol Foster through these next few weeks while she deals with the unimaginable fallout of Richard's murder and cover the costs of preliminary steps to bring his killer(s) to justice. We had no idea that so many people would rally with such love and generosity to help the Fosters.
Carol will need so much more support. Not only has she lost her life and professional partner, but Richard was also her main care-giver. She also had to postpone her US-based surgery and is currently in intense physical pain. So please don’t stop donating and sharing,
With huge gratitude for all support given,
Chrissy, Lucy, Rachel, Jamal, Eden and the many Friends of the Fosters
