Juniper's Fight for Life

Recently Tilted Acres Rescue and Adoption (TARA) received a call from Longleaf Animal Hospital concerning a dog that needed help. She was in terrible condition, but had a fighting spirit to pull through. Meet Juniper. Juniper was found on the side of the road by a kind passer-by who scooped her up and brought her in to get help.

We are guessing that Juniper may be a year old. Her teeth are in poor condition so it is hard to make an accurate guess. She has most likely been living in a crate too small for her so her stature is hunched over and she has multiple sores on her back legs and rear end. She was abandoned on the side of the road. She was found lying on a t-shirt. Given Juniper's breed and bone structure, the vet estimates she should weigh about 45 lbs. She weighs 19 lbs. It took a while to get her to drink water because she was so used to drinking her own urine to survive she did not recognize the water. 

Juniper has begun eating slowly and drinking water. Given she survives this awful situation, she will slowly gain weight over time. Any lasting health issues will become evident as time goes on. TARA is dedicated to caring for Juniper during the long journey to health she has ahead. Please consider a small donation to help us with her medical bills.
