Julia's Legacy

Donation protected
I met my good friend Julia 5 years ago through our work, and we soon became fast friends. Last week, after nursing what we thought was a bad chest cold, my friend asked me that should her health ever turn for the worse, could I start a Go Fund Me campaign to support her husband Michael and their son Gabriel. How could I say no? Julia wants to ensure that if needed, her family can carry on without her.

Today, instead of celebrating her son Gabriel's second birthday, my good friend Julia was admitted to the Cross Cancer Institute. Her breast cancer has metasticized into her lungs. The doctor told her that without treatment she may just have weeks to live. There is no guarantee that the treatment she has started today will be successful.

She is curently facing every mothers nightmare, not being there for her family, and she worries about their future.

Julia never thought she would get married or have a family. But in 2012 she met Michael.  Their relationship progressed, and soon Julia found herself joyously pregnant! Michael and Julia got maried and bought their family home in south Edmonton. Gabriel was born February 12, 2014.  He is the love of Julia's life.

Just a few months later, in August 2014, Julia was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer. After enduring surgery, aggressive chemotherapy, radiation, and the challenges of the first year of parenting, Julia was able to return to work in summer 2015.

Earlier this week Julia shared:
"The hardest thing to come to terms with is that I may not get to see my baby boy grow up. I love him so much that it pains me to think of all the hugs, kisses, triumphs, falldowns, and challenges I will miss - and not be there to support him and tell him how much I love him. How can anyone face that loss with grace."

As a parent myself, my worst nightmare is to not see my children grow up. Not to be there to see what they become and how they grow. Not to fulfill the promise that parenthood and family offers.

I am fulfilling my promise to my friend; Julia wants to provide a legacy to her family ensuring some stability in the years to come when she is no longer able to provide for them.

Julia wants to leave her family whatever she can to make their lives easier. Her legacy is her grace and knowing that she will live on in her son.

Ease her mind with a gift of generosity. Please help her contribute to her family's expense so that they are able to transition to a life without her, while ensuring that Gabriel has all the opprtunities she desires for him.

I thank you for your help
