Julianne's Endometriosis Surgery in Atlanta

Donation protected
Hi, I'm Julianne, and I have endometriosis. I need to take action and get surgery that can get rid of as much of the disease as possible. It has really taken its toll on me. I need your help.

I live in Ireland and there are no surgeons here that can effectively treat the disease as the methods used here are outdated. My first (ablation) surgery was a failure. Just over 2 years later, my symptoms have progressed and I have a low quality of life on a daily basis. I live with chronic pain and very low energy. I've researched an excellent surgeon in Atlanta, Dr Sinervo, who has experience to treat me with excision surgery with an 80% chance of success. I could finally be myself again. Im appealing to whomever is reading this, if they would wish to help me get closer to my goal, it would mean the world to me (and my husband).

The financial burden for me is immense and there is a 75% reduction in surgery costs if payment is made upfront. The only possible way the surgery is affordable is being paid as a lump sum. The sooner I can gather enough funds to pay the cost, I can start my road to recovery and dream of having a family with my husband. Endometriosis is one of the leading causes of infertility however the effective removal of endometriosis can improve chances. Cover for treatment abroad is slim and is often only covered (sometimes in part) after all costs have been paid in the first instance. It requires referral via an Irish consultant and my consultant here believes cover for endometriosis in the US will be rejected due to the high medical costs there. He'd prefer to refer me to the UK, but the accreditation status of surgeries in a UK Endo Centre there is not acceptable (12 surgeries a year - and surgeries can be partial excision only, leaving endo on the most vulnerable areas untreated).

My husband and I don't have the means to pay for the surgery in the US, and I'll need to travel and stay in Atlanta, Georgia for a minimum of 8 days. So far the costs of surgery, hospital fees and accommodation combined are €20,000 (excluding anesthesia + pathology). Any donation is welcome, and if you cannot donate, I really appreciate you taking the time to read my story.

Living with endometriosis is difficult and many women suffer in silence, not even knowing that they have the disease. According to the Endometriosis Society of Ireland  "Endometriosis (en-doh-me-tree-o-sis) is a word that 1 in 10 women  hear from their gynaecologist, relating to their ongoing pain or as an explanation for their fertility problems. It is one of the most commonly seen gynaecological diseases, yet is poorly understood and not commonly talked about".  If you'd like to know more about endometriosis, you can read more at this link: https://www.endometriosis.ie/

Thank you for taking the time to read my story. I'm hopeful that one day I can get the treatment I need and get my life back on track. Best wishes, Julianne (Darren, and Alpacas :))
