I met Lindsay and Ed 6 years ago and have had the pleasure of getting to know all of their children. Their oldest son, whom is 3 years old, is now going through the battle of his life and could use our help as a community.
Judah is a 3 year old boy who was recently diagnosed with Metachromatic Leukodystrophy (MLD), which is a terminal genetic disease that attacks the deep white matter of his brain. MLD happens to 1 in 40,000-160,000 individuals worldwide. MLD normally becomes apparent in the 2nd year of life and has recently aggressively attacked little Judah. Infantile MLD currently has no cure and has the poorest prognosis.
Judah was a boy full of joy and happiness until his recent diagnosis. He is no longer able to function regularly and needs a lot of assistance with day to day things. Signs and symptoms of MLD include loss of sensation in the extremities, incontinence, seizures, paralysis, inability to speak, blindness, and hearing loss. Eventually, kids affected will lose awareness of their surroundings and become unresponsive.
Judah has recently lost muscle tone in his jaw, impairing his ability to swallow, which resulted in a recent placement of a feeding tube.
This GoFund me was set up to assist Lindsay, Ed, Judah, and his two siblings in maintaining the quality of life to provide nutritional and financial assistance.
Judah is in need of assistance pertaining to new feeding tube placement and will need many things as his diagnosis worsens.
Some items the family needs help with include: adaptable onesies that are made with tube access which can be purchased at Target through the company Cat and Jack, size 6 diapers, clear Pedialyte with no dye or flavor, and a Vitamix or Blendtec to better puree his food.
Additionally, the family is taking needed time to spend with Judah and could use financial resources to get them through this rough time.
