In life there are two kinds of family, the ones you are born with and the ones you chose, Juan was part of our chosen family.

He was an amazing person, whose soul was beyond this world.

When we first met him we never thought we would have endless adventures with him. He was an adult with the heart of a boy, curious about the world and passionate about his photography. He always did everything with his heart, regardless of how small the action was, he would give his all.

He was an incredible artist, with a vision not like anyone, we always wondered what colors he saw in the world to laugh and love so freely and  deeply, and that is what made people so attracted to him.

We will always remember all the moments we spent with him, he made everything better just by being there, we believe that for everyone is the same. He was extremely proud of his family, whom he always spoke fondly of.

Like how his father was the one who first supported him to become a photographer. When he was young and he received his first camera he would take pictrues of people without the head from how short he was. Or like how his mother was his best friend, he could always tell her everything regardless of what it was.

He was very proud of his siblings, he always said his little brother was extremely smart and had a great future ahead of him, when his brother first opened his foundation Juan called us and said "this is my brother". He admired his sister for her resillience and love, he always found himself close to her due to both of them being far from home. They understood each other struggles and pains, they laguhed together and once his niece was born, you could see his smile bright as the sun, and his eyes shine like a million stars.

Through him we learnt about his life and loved ones. He had many friends and cousins all around the world, he had a wondering soul. He laughed cheekily whenever he recalled something from his time in Malta, and would smile fondly of his time in Colombia.

He went to Australia with many dreams and hopes, his long life wish was to work for National Geographic, and he arrived to a land very far from home with the purpose of learning to take pictures under water, and be one step closer to his dream. A dream we believe without doubt that he would have made come true.

Many would say why did he have to go so far from Colombia? But we have to thank everyone who encouraged him to go, because we and all his chosen family in Australia were able to meet him, and have an amazing time with him.

The last years of his life he spent with us, and everyone here can tell you, he was a ray of sunshine, a ball of endless energy willing to go far and beyond for his loved ones.

Remember Juan for what he was, remember him with love and happiness and keep his memory alive inside your heart, spread his art as his legacy to the world.

We set up this page with the intention of supporting his family through this though time, unfortunately Juan passed away very far from home and the costs of bringing the body to Colombia, along with the ceremony and other expenses are quite high for the family to cover in such short notice.

We all thank you from the bottom of our hearts for anything you can contribute.

Feel free to message us for any information you want or messages you want to send to the family.

With a heavy heart and all the love in the world.
