I'm writing to you today to ask for help with support and music/writing/art creation funds. 

I have not been able to meet the cost of living: debt is overwhelming, and I hope to create a new business in 2017 to break even and gain new ground. I have raised my goal to $15k, because the fundraising is ongoing and cumulative.

About this Campaign:

This opportunity has much to do with discovering the value people find in my music, creative coaching, teaching methodologies and writing.

I have just begun to get some kind recognition for my work. And I have been asked to play at a few venues, though I have been here less than a year. The shows get better and better each time, and I have booked two upcoming performances in January and February. It would be a shame not to be able to make those happen due to financial challenges.

As days progress, more of the reasons for this campaign will unfold. I will document the process as I go--and in essence, all the PR work I have done for others I will bake into this campaign for myself, sharing my learnings as I go.

Who I Am:
I have been working in edtech/multimedia/entertainment for well over a decade.  As an LGBTQ-affirming woman of color, even in this day and age, our ilk is still somewhat rare. I'm working on changing that! Visibility is empowerment!

How I Help:
In addition to the work I do on the ground for various tech, education and entertainment companies, I do quite a bit of volunteering (LGBTQ, trans* folks of color, women's causes, nonprofits/education...and where these communities intersect with leveraging tech to further success). I am also an artist coach and in the process of yoga teaching certifiation.

How The Funds Will Be Used: To eradicate debt, compensate those I owe, and to catch up with living expenses. My goal for 2017 is to create a product line or two that will fund itself and to halve debt. I was advised to ask for more than just what is needed, which is why I have more than doubled my asking amount.

Needs / Reason for this Fundraising

Debt: Moving to Seattle, I have incurred debt involving moving costs and monies owed for it, which now over $1500 at this time. Other debt will be whittled down as possible.

Creation of art and teaching materials: this will be done on a piecemeal basis. As fundraising occurs, I will share with transparency, how funds are being redirected, in terms of creating products and services.

Misc. 
GoFundMe and their payment processor collect administrative fees for eac donation, so I won't be receiving the full amount. In grateful to get to pay for this service. 

Wish List Items/Nice to Haves

It's my understanding that sometimes folks like to see wish list items too, or have an idea how much things cost, in the spirit of transparency. These are not needed items, but just dream, dreamy items. Some you can find below, and some you can find  in the "wish list" area.


Funds for traveling to shows: Additional travel to perform at free local shows and open mics will cost more money. That is an open "playing" field, and would just be nice to have.
